Divine Darshan at Govinddevji Temple and Citywide Rituals
On Friday, Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturdashi, worship and fasts for Lord Anant were observed in homes and temples across Jaipur. In homes, women and men offered prayers to the 14-knot thread representing Lord Anant using Panchamrit, turmeric, sandalwood, flowers, Naivedya, and fruits. Lord Anant was offered Rot with ghee, powdered sugar, and curd. Women wore red threads while men wore yellow threads.
At the famous Thikana Temple Sri Govinddevji, the Anant Chaturdashi festival was celebrated with great fervor. Mahant Anjan Kumar Goswami shared that prior to the Rajbhog Aarti, Thakur Sri Saligramji Bhagwan (Narayanjee) underwent Panchamrit Abhishek accompanied by Vedic chanting. Sandalwood adornments (chandan shringar) were performed, followed by Rajbhog Aarti and bhog offerings.
Thakur Shriji was dressed in a new saffron-colored Lappa Jama attire. (Note: Lappa is a wide gota/border fabric unique to the traditional attire of Thakurji in Rajasthan). Special flower decorations were also presented. Devotees gathered in large numbers to experience the divine darshan of Thakurji’s Anant form. Similar grand Anant Chaturdashi celebrations were held at Saras Nikunj (Daribapan), Anand Krishna Bihariji, Gupt Vrindavan Dham, and other temples.
Eco-Friendly Ganesh Immersion: Bappa Brought to Life at the Roots of 3,000 Plants
In Jaipur (known as Chhoti Kashi), a unique blend of faith and environmental conservation was witnessed. At the Vedic Medicinal Plant Center located in Pinjrapole Gaushala on Tonk Road, an eco-friendly immersion (visarjan) of Lord Dhanvantari Ganapati was carried out.
Monika Gupta, Secretary of the Hahnemann Animal Charitable Mission Society, explained that the idol was crafted using cow dung, fertile soil, and seeds of holy basil (tulsi), shatavari, PKM moringa, and Nagauri ashwagandha. Instead of immersing the idol in open water bodies, it was immersed in a temporary pond built on the ground, carefully preserving the soil and seed-infused water.
This nutrient-rich water was subsequently poured at the roots of 3,000 medicinal plants at the center. Dr. Atul Gupta of the Akhil Bhartiya Gaushala Sahayog Parishad added that following the Aarti and prayers, devotees carried out a procession. The seeds embedded inside the idol will sprout into new plants, helping to nurture and protect the local environment.
