A Unique Confluence of Faith and Environmental Conservation in Jaipur
In Jaipur, widely known as Chhoti Kashi, a unique blend of devotional faith and nature conservation was displayed. At the Vedic Medicinal Plant Center inside Pinjrapole Gaushala on Tonk Road, an eco-friendly immersion (visarjan) of Lord Dhanvantari Ganapati was conducted.
Monika Gupta, Secretary of the Hahnemann Animal Charitable Mission Society, explained that the idol was specially crafted using cow dung (Gaumata ka gobar), fertile soil, and seeds of valuable medicinal plants—including Tulsi, Shatavari, PKM Moringa, and Nagauri Ashwagandha.
Nourishing 3,000 Medicinal Plants
Rather than polluting local water bodies, the idol was immersed in a temporary pond specially constructed on the ground, allowing the nutrient-rich water mixed with soil and seeds to be carefully collected. This mixture was then poured at the roots of 3,000 medicinal plants at the center.
Dr. Atul Gupta of the Akhil Bhartiya Gaushala Sahayog Parishad and fellow devotees carried out a vibrant procession (shobhayatra) following the completion of the Aarti and ritual prayers. The medicinal seeds embedded within the idol will germinate into thriving plants, continuing to nourish and enhance the surrounding environment.
